Albertus Carolus Ludovicus Gotthilfus Guntherus (vulgo Albert Carl Ludwig Gotthilf Günther), natus urbe Eslinga die 3 Octobris anno 1830, mortuus South Stoke die 11 Februarii anno 1914, fuit zoologiae, ichthyologiae, et herpetologiae studiosus Germanicus.
Postquam theologiae apud Tubinga studuit, se studiis medica primum Bonnae, deinde Berolini dedicavit.
Anno 1857, secundum inclitionem? studiis historiae naturalis, initiavit cooperationem cum Ioanne Eduardo Gray, tunc rector departimenti zoologici Museum Historiae Naturalis Londiniensis.
Anno 1867 factus est sodalis Regalis Societas Londini.
Gray mortuo, in 1875, ei successit Musei Departimenti zoologia et mammalogia rectione.
A 1896 ad 1900 fuit rector Societas Linnaeana Londiniensis.
