Prunus persica (binomen post Linnaeum ab Augusto Batsch anno 1801 statutum)[1] est species plantarum generis Pruni in Serica alibique endemica. Propter fructum dulcem et sapidum, malum persicum[2] sive persicum[2] appellatum, colitur.
