Qua Ratione "Nivata" Appelletur?
[fontem recensere]This isn't a challenge, I'm just curious--how did we come by "Nivata"? Valete, Bassus 22:10, 27 Februarii 2007 (UTC)
- Credo hispanice "Nevada" significare "nivea" "stratum nive". nivata est approximatio huius verbi. I believe that "Nevada" comes from the word "nieve" in spanish. The word "nivata" looks like it in latin. --Marc mage 22:15, 27 Februarii 2007 (UTC)
- Vázquez Coronado (if I remember properly), the first Spaniard to reach modern-day Nevada called it such because of the vast amount of salt in the deset, that created a smowy image. As it has been said before, Nevada means "snowed" (nieve>nevar>nevado/a)--Xaverius 23:03, 27 Februarii 2007 (UTC)
