Disputatio Categoriae:Auctores Neolatini

I have some 17th-19th century Latinists to add. This category seems at present to consist of 20th-21st century people. Are "early modern" Latin writers meant to go here, or should I start a "Category:Scriptores Latini recentiores"? Andrew Dalby 11:36, 28 Octobris 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A real problem! The title says "Hodiernae," implying that they're all alive (but are they?). Most importantly, where would medieval writers go? and those of the Renaissance (Leon Battista Alberti, Pietro Cardinal Bembo, Leonardo Bruni, Cyriac of Ancona, Marsilio Ficino, Biondo Flavio, Giannozzo Manetti, Francesco Petrarca, Pius Papa II, Angelo Poliziano, Giovanni Gioviano Pontano, Jacopo Sannazaro, Julius Caesar Scaliger, Polydor Vergil, et al.)? And let's not forget some later distinguished writers in Latin: Sir Thomas More (qui Utopia Latine scripsit), John Donne, John Milton, Richard Crashaw, Abraham Cowley, Sir Isaac Newton, Carolus Linnaeus, Samuel Johnson, Thomas Gray, Walter Savage Landor, Leo Papa XIII, Charles Baudelaire, Algernon Charles Swinburne, Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch, Allen Beville Ramsay, et al. Some very interesting names there! I have now added my first early modern Latin author and I have created Categoria:Scriptores Latini recentiores to accommodate him. Categoria:Scriptores Latini mediaevales is there already. A Renaissance one will be wanted sooner or later, evidently. They are all grouped under the supercategory Categoria:Scriptores Latini.
