Jiu, littera sua Sinica 酒, est categoria temetorum Sinensium, quorum praecipuum est mijiu vel vinum Sinicum ex oryza braxatum. Eadem littera, pronuntiatu vario, nominantur vina vel temeta aliarum regionum Asiae orientalis:
- sul(en) apud Coreanos
- shu "temetum" apud Iaponenses, et praesertim sake vel vinum Iaponicum ex oryza confectum
- rượu apud Vietnamenses
