Monolithus
Monolithus (Graece μονόλιθος < μόνος 'unus' + λίθος 'saxum, lapis') est proprietas geologica quae ex uno magno saxo vel lapide constat, sicut nonnulli montes, vel ex una magna parte saxosa ut, vel intra, monumentum vel aedificium posita. Erosio conformationes geologicas plerumque detegit, quae saepe ex durissimo et solido saxo metamorphico vel igneo constant.
Vocabulum in architectura cum vocabulo megalitho magnopere congruit, quod autem ad praehistoriam usitate adhibetur, et in contextibus architecturae ex saxo caesa quae in lapide solido aptae manet, ut in templo monolithico, vel pro saxis praeter modum magnis adhiberi potest, sicut obelisci, statuae, columnae monolithicae, vel magnae architrabes, quae magnum spatium post caesum fortasse motae sunt.
