Novum Belgium
Novum Belgium[1] (Nederlandice Nieuw-Nederlandt), vel Nova Belgica fuit provincia colonica Reipublicae Nederlandensis quae in Ora Orientali Americae Septentrionalis saeculo septimo decimo sita est. Territoria postulata a Paeninsula Delmarva ad Cape Cod meridioccidentalissimum patuit, dum minores regiones habitatae nunc sunt pars civitatum Atlanticae Mediae Novi Eboraci, Novae Caesareae, Delavariae, et Connecticutae, quibus fuerunt parvae stationes in Pennsylvania et Rhodensi Insula constitutae. Novum Amstelodamum, caput provinciae, in apice meridiano Manhatae apud Portum Novi Eboraci situm est.
Colonia pro negotio privato fuit, ad lucrifaciendum pecuniam ex commercio pellis in America Septentrionali. Novum Belgium per prima decennia sensim occupabatur, partim propter pravam rerum administrationem a Nederlandica Indiae Occidentalis Societate effectam, partim propter certamina cum indigenis. Deductio Novae Sueciae suos fines meridianos violabat, finesque septentrionales ad accommodandam Confoederationem Novam Angliam crescentem aptabantur. Novum Belgium inter annos 1651 et 1660 rapidissime crevit, et maior portus commercii in Oceano Atlantico Septentrionali facta est. Deditio Arcis Amstelodami Regno Anglico anno 1664 effecta est, Anglo-Nederlandicum Bellum Alterum anno 1667 excitans. Nederlandi anno 1673 regionem iterum ceperunt, sed eam secundum Alteram Vestmonasterii Pactionem reliquerunt, quod Anglo-Nederlandicum Bellum Tertium proximo anno composuit.
Habitantes coloniae fuerunt indigenae, Europaei, et Africani, quorum illi praecipue importabantur ut laborarent servi. Progenies primorum colonorum partes magni momenti in America colonica egerunt. Cultura Novi Belgii regionem bina saecula penitus informavit, plerumque hodiernum districtum capitalem circa Albaniam, et in Valle Hudsoniana, Insula Longa occidentali, Nova Caesarea boreorientali, et Urbe Novo Eboraco. Notiones libertatum civilium et pluralismi in provinciam introductae ad ultimum Americanae morum, civilitatis, societatisque proprietates factae sunt.
