Anglice sub appellatione Lafcadio Hearn scripsit de Cincinnatis ubi iuvenis uxorem nigricolorem contra legem duxit, de Nova Aurelia ubi decem annos morabat, de insulis Caribicis ubi diurnarius missus est, et praeter omnia alia de Iaponia, ubi quattuordecim annos habitavit, uxorem alteram duxit nationalitatemque Iaponicam accepit.
Praenomina eo data sunt "Patricius" ad honorem sancti, Hiberniae patroni, propter patrem Hibernum; "Leucadius" ex insula nativa propter matrem Graecam.
