Persea americana (binomen a Philippo Miller anno 1768 statutum) est planta florens in Mexico et Media America orta, quae ad familiam Lauracearum pertinet. Fructus est esculentus et adhibitus est in guacamole parando.
Semina huius speciei reperta sunt in locis archaeologicis Mexicanis Coxcatlán, El Riego, Purrón, unde domesticationem hac regione anno circiter 6 500 a.C.n. inceptam censetur.[1]
