Poetae metaphysici,[1][2] Anglice metaphysical poets apud Samuelem Johnson primum illum,[3] fuerunt poetae lyrici Anglici qui vago motui litterario saeculo septimo decimo interfuerunt. Proprietates eorum opera fuerunt sollers et aliquando tractus troporum metaphysicorum usus et contemplatio amoris, religionis, et aliarum rerum mysticae. Qui poetae rite non coniuncti sunt; plurimi quidem inter se nec noverunt nec legerunt.
