Puer mirabilis
Puer mirabilis[1] est qui sollertiam unam pluresve aetate praematura adeo perdiscit, ut inter aequales suas longe excellat.[2] Impubes sit necesse est aut omnino duodeviginti annis iunior et talis quidem, qui arte quadam (sicut mathematica, musica, scaccis) adultorum doctissimorum sollertiam adaequet.[2][3] Puella mirabilis nimirum est quae iisdem facultatibus satisfacit.
Inter impuberes mirabiles numerantur Wolfgangus Amadeus Mozart et Béla Bartók in musica, Paulus Morphy et Iuditha Polgár in scaccis, Isaacus Newtonus, Carolus Fridericus Gauss, Colin Maclaurin, Srinivasa Ramanujan, Ioannes von Neumann, Norbertus Wiener in mathematica, Paulus Picasso in arte oculorum, et Saulus Kripke in philosophia.[4] Est controversia de definienda aetate: mirabilitas quot annos natis tribui debeat?
