Consul anno 465 fuit et anno 468 dux militaris in bello cum Geiserico, rege Vandalorum infeliciter pugnabat. Verina, uxor Leonis I, fuit soror Basilisci. Anno 471, postquam Flavius Ardaburius Asparus necatus est, impetum Theodorici Strabonis, Aspari familiaris, in Constantinopolin factam arcebat. Seditione anno 475 facta Zeno imperator expulsus et Basiliscus imperator factus est. Postquam Zenon ex exsilio reversus est, Byzantium oppugnavit, donec senatus constituit portas urbis patefacere et Zenonem iterum imperatorem facere. Zenoni traditus Basiliscus necatus est.
