Magna Excitatio
Magna Excitatio,[1] Anglice Great Awakening, fuit quaelibet ex nonnullis redintegrationis religiosae aetatibus in religiosa Civitatum Foederatarum historia. Rerum gestarum scriptores et theologi tres vel quattuor undas enthusiasmi religiosi aucti inter saecula duodevicensimum et undevicensimum agnoscunt. Proprietates ullius ex eis magnis excitationibus fuerunt redintegrationes longe lateque diffusae, evangelicis clericis Protestantibus ducibus, magnum studii religionis incrementum, altus convictionis et redemptionis sensus ab eis affectis, incrementum societatis evangelicae, et formatio novorum motuum et denominationum religiosarum.
Magna Excitatio Prima
[recensere | fontem recensere]Magna Excitatio Prima, circa 1735 coepta, usque ad 1743 fere duravit, sed redintegrationes annis superioribus factae erant, praecipue inter auditores Salomonis Stoddard, avi Ionathanae Edwards.[2] Congregatio Edwardsiana se in redintegratione circa 1735 implicavit quam alii deinde redintegratio finium appellaverunt. Ministri in variis evangelicis sectis Protestantibus Magnam Excitationem sustinuerunt.[3] Praeterea, ipsi modi pastorales commutari incipiebant. Plurimi clerici aetate colonica eorum homilias magna voce legerunt, quae theologice densae erant, et propria argumenta theologica vel interpretationes suadebant. Duces autem Magnae Excitationis, inter quos Ionathan Edwards, Gilbertus Tennent, et Georgius Whitefield, intellegentias adsectatorum excitare vix volebant; potius, inter eorum auditores fortem animi motus responsum petebant quod operationes et experientialia gratiae salvificantis indicia induceret.
Iosephus Tracy, minister, historicus, et praedicator qui hanc rem religiosam in libro The Great Awakening (1842) primum nominavit, credidit Magnam Excitationem Primam esse praecursorem Rerum Novarum Americanarum. Motus evangelicus paucos annos post 1740 partes magni momenti in evolutione cogitationis democraticae egit, cum fide liberi preli typographici et fide data omnino integra et infinita communicari debere. Hae notiones aetatem Rerum Novarum Americanarum impulerunt, amorem libertatis religionis adiuvantes.[4] Quamquam Magna Excitatio primum fuit tempus cum permulti Afroamericani Christianitatem amplecterentur, missionarii Anglici verbis et impressis et dictis diu petiverant ut nigros se converterent.[5]
