Romanus I Lacapenus, Graece Ῥωμανὸς Λακαπηνός (natus circa annum 870, mortuus 15 Iunii 948) fuit Imperator Byzantinus ab anno 920. Ab imperio deiectus est a filiis Stephano et Constantino die 16 Decembris 944 et ad insulam Protam missus, ubi monachum fieri coactus est.

Romanus fuit filius custodis imperialis Theophylacti Abastacti.[1] Romanus Lacapae natus est, unde agnomen eius "Lacapenus", aut, saepius sed corruptius, "Lecapenus".

Uxorem duxit Theodoram e qua filios quattuor genuit filiasque duas, scilicet:
